You may have heard that the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) Review Taskforce for Ophthalmology, has developed a draft report suggesting changes to Medicare rebates for intravitreal eye injections. These injections deliver sight-saving treatments for a range of conditions such as wet age-related macular degeneration and diabetic macular edema.
The Macular Disease Foundation is now seeking feedback on these draft changes. Feedback will be considered by the Taskforce before a final report is submitted to the Government for consideration. The Macular Disease Foundation is looking for patients or carers living with a macular disease, to help us better tell the story to the Government, of what it is like to live with this disease. The Foundation is interested in speaking to anyone who is struggling to pay for their current treatments or has abandoned treatment simply due to cost.
If you are interested in sharing your story, please call the National Helpline on 1800 111 709 or send an email to communciations@mdfoundation.com.au
