Presmed Australia, a Sydney based healthcare company specialsing in the establishment and management of ophthalmic day hospitals, is partnering with local ophthalmologists to open a new private eye hospital in one of the leading commercial complexes in Erina. In September 2010, Central Coast Day Hospital will have two operating theatres and will house the latest, state of the art equipment and instrumentation. It will be staffed by specialised ophthalmic nurses employed locally and Central Coast ophthalmologists will operate at the facility.
The dedicated ophthalmic facility will be licensed by the NSW Department of Health, be accredited to the highest quality and safety healthcare standards and have health fund contracts with all the major health insurers. It aims to become the centre of excellence in ophthalmic surgery on the Central Coast, as well as setting the benchmark in the ophthalmic community Australia wide.

The centre is also considering the possibility of offering refractive laser eye surgery (LASIK) for vision correction. It would be the first facility of its kind in Central Coast.
